MATTHEW ARMET
Originally from Battleford, SK, Matt has taken his skills and talents across the country having performed and worked on many stages and screens from coast to coast.
Matt is an alumni of CCPA and has spent a majority of his career in the musical theatre arena. He spent six years at the Stratford Festival where he was able to hone his skills and learn from some of the best in the business. Outside of Stratford, Matt has worked at Neptune Theatre, the Charlottetown Festival, Drayton Entertainment, The Grand, RMTC, MTYP, Rainbow Stage, and most recently, the Shaw Festival.
In the land of TV and film, Matt can be seen as a member of Soundcheck on PBS/TVO’s hit show “Odd Squad”, and you can see his appearances on CBC’s “Skymed” and “The Porter”.
He has worked as a choreographer for the RMTC Lawyer’s Production of “Mamma Mia”, Rainbow Stage x WSO’s “Guys & Dolls”, and for the online digital project, “Larry Saves the Canadian Healthcare System”. Most recently, Matt was the co-choreographer alongside Tyrell for “FAME, The Musical” with Winnipeg Studio Theatre, as well as the choreographer for “RENT” at Rainbow Stage, playing until July 16th at Kildonan Park in Winnipeg.
Matt is an accomplished dance educator and adjudicator and has taught many classes and workshops across the country. He can be seen encouraging and uplighting Canada’s young and up-and-coming talents while adjudicating for competitions such as View Dance Challenge, Shine Dance Festival, Dance Power, Summit Dance Challenge, and more.
Up next, Matt will be teaching workshops for ADEA (Albert Dance Educators Association) in Edmonton and then will head up to Camp Cue where he will be a guest instructor alongside Tyrell for their upcoming musical theatre summer camp.
TYRELL WITHERSPOON
Born and raised in small town, southwestern Manitoba, Tyrell has had the opportunity to live and work in many of the beautiful provinces this country has to offer.
From his early years as a competitive gymnast turned dancer, Tyrell has always had an affinity for the stage. He began his career with multiple shows at Winnipeg’s Rainbow Stage which lead him to more musical theatre projects from BC to PEI with companies like the Vancouver Opera, Citadel Theatre, Theatre Calgary, RMTC, Drayton Entertainment, Theatre Aquarius, and the Charlottetown Festival. Tyrell is currently a Swing and the Dance Captain for “RENT” playing at Rainbow Stage until July 16th.
When it comes to TV, music videos and film, Tyrell is no stranger. Recently, Tyrell was featured in the Unis TV mini series, “Cancelled” as Marco Duprio. Other credits include Nickelodeon’s “Rags”, Disney’s “Girl VS Monster”, and most recently, “Bring It On: Cheer of Die” with SyFy. You can also spot Tyrell in music videos for Elise Estrada, These Kids Wear Crowns, J-Day, and Mariana’s Trench. Coming this winter, you’ll be able to catch Tyrell in Hallmark’s “Never Been Chris’d” where plays the role of Party Marty.
As a creative, Tyrell has had the great honour to work under some of the countries’ best to develop and train his own set of skills as a choreographer and director. From his many years working as a dance captain, to working as an associate choreographer, he has truly created a process that is people-forward and helps to bring out the best in whomever he’s working with. Tyrell was the assistant choreographer on Rainbow Stage’s “The Hockey Sweater”, choreographer and lead performer in Skip the Dishes’ “Deliver with Pride” campaign, and provided choreography and movement for the major motion picture action film, “Nobody”. Most recently, Tyrell was the co-choreography alongside Matt for “FAME, The Musical” with Winnipeg Studio Theatre.
Tyrell also prides himself on his work in dance education and adjudication having taught and worked with dancers of all ages and abilities across the country. Tyrell currently teachers at Evolution Dance Company in Selkirk, MB and adjudicates yearly with competitions such as View Dance Challenge, Shine Dance Festival, and is the host of MEET in YXE in Saskatoon, SK.
